    If I have an overseas academic qualification, am I exempted from submitting English language qualifications?
    A.

    Those who have (or are expected to have) a university (graduate) degree (either a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral) from overseas can be exempted from the English language requirements. Find out more from the exception requirements of English language qualifications in the KAIST graduate school admission guide.

      How competitive is the admissions?
      A.

      At KAIST, we do not reveal the completion rate. It is advised to attend the admission briefing for more information.

        Do you have plans for doctoral programs?
        A.

        (As of 2021) We do not have plans for doctoral programs.

          I am working full time in Seoul. Do I have to take a leave of absence to be admitted to the bio innovation management program?
          A.

          Not necessarily. To encourage more participation from full-time workers in the class, all lectures will be provided in late afternoons, evenings on weekdays, and mornings and afternoons on Saturdays.

            Can you recommend books to help prepare for the interviews?
            A.

            Books and newspapers that can help you understand the latest biotech industry and technology trends are recommended.

              What are postgraduate taught programs?
              A.

              In principle, the bio innovation management program is a postgraduate taught program that allow students to graduate only by completing specific courses. (However, a case study will also be conducted with a supervisor).

                I would like to know about the overall admissions process.
                A.

                Please access admission information from the admission guide at KAIST Admission website (http://admission.kaist.ac.kr/graduate/) early May and October every year. All applications will be carefully screened first and then selected applicants will be invited for an interview.

                  Is a letter of recommendation from the head of the agency mandatory?
                  A.

                  It is not mandatory. If you have a recommendation, please submit it; if not, you can still apply.

                    Can I also apply for the MBA program in addition to the BIM?
                    A.

                    That is not allowed.

                    • Q.
                      When and how are supervisors assigned?
                      A.

                      Supervisors are selected through an application process and internal committee meetings within 6 months after admission.

                        Can you explain the career path after graduation?
                        A.

                        Graduates are expected to work as a bio management consultant, technical support expert, senior executive, researcher and employee in technical position in biotech industry and food company, bioenergy researcher and developer, biopharmaceutical researcher, investment analyst, investment underwriter, startup consultant.

                          Is housing(dormitory) provided during the school year?
                          A.

                          Dormitories can be provided to students with general scholarships from the available dormitory space after the first dormitory assignment.

                            How should I prepare for the interview? Can you explain what the interview process is like?
                            A.

                            During the interview, the reasons for entering a graduate school, academic plans, future career path after graduation will be mainly asked.

                              Can you explain the candidate selection criteria?
                              A.

                              Candidates with work experience of 3 years and more in technological development, management and investment in companies and institutes (including research institutes) in the biotechnology industry are preferred.

                                Do I have to have a bachelor’s degree in a certain academic field to enter the KAIST Graduate School of Innovation and Technology Management?
                                A.

                                All majors are welcome.
